snooZe

I used to have a little habit when waking up in the morning. After turning off the alarm and getting out of bed, I would turn on my computer and head to the bathroom. By the time I got back the computer was up and running and so were my weather widget. After checking the current temperature and the forecast for the day, I would head off to the office.

I say “used to have” because I no longer do that – not since I have an iPhone and since I discovered the Mitchell Feinstein-developed app snooSe (or ssnooZe). Thanks to this app I do not have to boot up my computer to take a look at the weather forecast. All I have to do is listen.

How come you ask? Well, the answer is pretty simple: this is a talking weather alarm app. In the morning, instead of hearing the alarm clocks ring, I get to hear what the weather is like. It’s like having a weather man by my side, waking me up by telling me what the current weather conditions are. And if I’m interested in seeing a 7 day forecast, the app has that to offer as well.

There's one more thing this app does, thing that I quite enjoyed: when you shake the iPhone it will speak out the time. So if I want to know what time it is, just give the iPhone a shake and the snooZe app will speak out the time. Pretty cool, right?

So to sum it up, snooZe (ssnooZe in the App Store) is a handy app that speaks out the weather, provides you with a 7-day weather forecast, and speaks out the time when you shake your iPhone. And it’s offered free of charge. Awesome!
